{ Halloween 2016 ~Transformer }

Transformer/ '64 Cutlass Convertible Costume

Well the years for trick or treating are winding down..it all goes by so quickly, doesn't it? This year Andres wanted to be a Transformer that converted into a 64 Oldsmobile Convertible like his dad's. Mark did his usual magic and created one that actually transforms. In a rush to get pictures and head out for the evening, I forgot to get video of it (we'll have to rectify that sometime this week). In the meantime here are a few images. { Halloween 2015 }

Marty McFly & the Delorean Halloween Costume

For Halloween this year, Andres choose to be Marty McFly & the Delorean time machine from the Back to the Future Trilogy. It was a toss up between this time traveling machine and his other favorite, but since Marty made his return to 2015 recently, this was the obvious choice, and no doubt a popular one for a new generation of fans. Mark worked his magic again by creating the costume using insulation foam, silver shelf liner adhesive, Christmas lights, glo sticks, legos, and odd bits from the garage and previous costumes. The result was a hybrid of the first and second Delorean and a very happy kid who had a blast getting into character and trick or treating. Andres turns ten in a few weeks..I wish time would slow down just a bit!

{ Halloween 2014 }

 Han Solo & Millenium Falcon Halloween Costume

This Halloween, Andres wanted to be the Han Solo and his favorite space craft the Millennium Falcon from (the ubiquitous) Star Wars. As with previous costumes, Mark used insulation foam, thin poster board, and other various items from around the house including legos He really needs his own website with "how-to's", but for now, I've included some work in progress shots. The Millenium Falcon was lit with finger lights from the dollar store and some string lighting recycled from last year's Tron Light Cycle costume. The shirt and vest were bought and we just used a pair of jeans with  cut red bias tape glued to the sides. All in all, Andres had a wonderful time and considers this his favorite costume. Our Dia de los Muertos Decorations inspired by ¡Viva Calaca! is an animation project by Ritxi Ostáriz and since Sunday, November 2nd is Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), I thought I'd share this collaboration between Mexican-American singer Lila Downs and Colombian singer Totó la Momposina~Enjoy!
