Talitha is sculpted from Polymer clay and is approx. 15" in her seated position (almost 18" in length from the top of her head dress to her toes). She is an articulated doll; her arms and legs are connected to the torso via wire and findings. She is painted with fine artists acrylics and sealed with a protective UV varnish.
Hair/Headpiece:
Talitha's locks are made of Chestnut Brown English Viscose (please be careful when handling this as it is very delicate and flyaway). Her crown is made of flower stamens that I brushed with an ivory pearlescent paint to give her crown the look of vintage wax orange blossoms. The flowers in her crown I made out of watercolor paper ~each are handpainted with pearlescent acrylic paint and lightly coated with ultra fine crystal glitter as are the ones lining the front and back bodice of her gown. The base of her crown is made of sterling silver wire and the veil is made of ivory netting.
Costume:
Talitha's dress is made of gold metallic silk, Vintage lace (yellowed with age) and netting (circa 1920's/30's) and Ivory Duchesse satin silk. I sewed on silver glass beads and iridescent sequins over parts of her lace skirt . I also did the same over her bodice, the back of her green silk sash, and around each of the sleeves using sequins, silver, gold and pearlescent glass beads. The vintage lace and netting on her sleeves and around her bodice were puposefully lmeant to looka bit shabby chic . There are some some minor holes from aging that I left as it lent to the aged look of my piece. Talitha's shoes are the second pair I've made using light gold dupioni silk and are not removable.
Bouquet:
She carries a bouquet of flowers that I made using water color paper ~each flower was hand painted using watercolors and is sealed with a UV protective varnish. The flowers were inspired by the cover art of a favorite album from the past.
Talitha's bouquet is wrapped in vintage lace and a hand dyed cotton banner wraps around it with a quote from Victor Hugo that reads:
"Life is the flower for which love is the honey"
It is also the same quote on the ribbon/banner that she holds in her hand.
