You are more than welcome to include my doll images on your personal web blog as part of a blog post about my work. Please link back to this site and mention that they are copy righted. ANY artwork/images that are not mine should be linked back to the original artists site, not here.
Two artists I've recently discovered have somewhat limited exposure online despite having rather prolific portfolios and shows behind them. I'll be keeping an eye out for their artwork as it seems to be essential to experience them in person. Performance artist and puppeteer Gisèle Vienne's latest work is entitled Teenage Hallucination where she incorporates photos, handmade life size dolls and sound to express hidden fears surrounding adolescence. The show just finished up in Paris and hopefully makes its way over to the States.
Paper creations by Anandamayi Arnold. Images c. Aya Brackett and brrowed from here.
Anandamayi Arnold is another artist whose work is difficult to find online but from what I've seen, it's quite elegant. Here is a video of the Berkeley artist creating paper dresses in celebration of the upcoming 75th anniversary of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.
Our Spring break is nearly over and it's back to a studio that needs to be cleaned. I'm a bit backed up on my doll work and emails to answer (my apologies!). Hope all is well with you~
Thank you to all who bid on "Paula's Tree" and the other one hundred+ pieces at the Art of Communication Show! I'm sure it was quite a success and I look forward to seeing how the project is implemented into various curriculums..
I've have been receiving a bit of email recently about special orders and I just wanted to let those who don't know already know, that I do not do custom orders or have a waiting list and I will be keeping it that way as that works best I think. Also right now I am focusing on experimenting with new clays so the dolls are taking a bit longer. Thanks for your patience!
I have also received requests about tutorials~I do not do those either. I learned the basics of primitive doll construction during a ten minute segment of a craft show featuring Dame Darcy .However, there are lots of great videos/sites that if I were starting out now, I would probably be focusing on. Here are just a few that I recommend.
Above is a video about the " Art of Communication ~100 Artist Show" with snippets of the artwork and interviews with a few of the Artists and Gallery Owner Mary Lou Zeek.
The show and auction end this Friday on March 2nd. If you are interested in bidding on my piece "Paula's Tree" please call before then. You can visit the site with all of the details by clicking here. (More images can be found here).
I'm working on several dolls now, and, as it always seems to happen, I get sidetracked by other things. So if I'm quiet here in the upcoming weeks, it just means I'm attempting to buckle down and get some doll related art work done :)
With a busy home life these days, I am only able to create dolls (and blog!)when I get the chance. The best way to find out when I'll have more dolls available is to be added to my mailing list.To be notified of when the next
