Summer has arrived in Bend! Our lilacs are finally blooming, Farmers Market is open for business and yesterday's rain will be the last for awhile, I hope. This past weekend's Hot Air Balloon festival was pretty much a wash out due to inclement weather (our Spring has been one long continuation of Winter here in Central Oregon), but I was able to surprise Andres Monday morning with a last minute"ride" in a tethered Balloon. I would have taken scenic pictures of the Cascades but I was just trying to keep my cool in front of the kids and not react to the wobbly basket or footage of the Hindenburg flashing in my head. The week ended with Mark taking Andres up in a glider this afternoon courtesy of Pilot Brian (owner of Sunriver Soaring).
Just a little taste of the fun to come this summer~have an adventurous weekend:)

Andres this morning waiting for the Energizer bunny to wake up
Well it's been a weekend of "flight related" events here in town~Summer time in Bend means activities galore). With two guys in the house that love anything to do with flying you know where we were.. We got up early Saturday morning to see the annual "Balloons Over Bend" event only to be disappointed ~the winds prevented the balloons from flying. Fortunately this morning, at my subtle urging, (GET UP nooooww !! ) we were able to see the 6:30 am launch of at least a dozen or more hot air balloons down at the Ampitheater in the Old Mill District. It was worth the early rise and chilly weather to see the colorful balloons float about. Andres, despite having been in one before, was a little unsure of them (the sound and fire scared him) but we could see his pensive little face was curious. Mark stood awhile in line with him to get on a teathered balloon for a "short ride" but Andres backed out at the last minute and was rather vocal about not getting on. Perhaps next year:)
Saturday morning after the first failed balloon launch we ventured out to
the airport for the annual "Airport Appreciation Day" (they ought to
re-schedule this for Father's Day) and Andres got to pretend he was a pilot in the helicopters and watched the flyover of F-15's and other
planes take off and land. They were giving helicopter rides over the area (what a way to see the Cascades) but we passed on it this year. Andres went up in one two years ago but since lately he's at that stage where he would either love it or be afraid (translation: throw a tantrum) we figured perhaps another time :)
Saturday evening's light show ~complete with a few balloons, music and fire dancers under a full moon.
As I mentioned before I'm taking a short blog break and will be back
later this month. I have several projects to get to and two blog events
coming up including the Mad Hatter Tea Party.. after this weekend's inspiration perhaps we'll have a Hot Air Balloon Ride Part II ..?. :) See you soon!
(Thank you to those who purchased a doll this weekend!)
We just received the invitation to your Mad Hatter's party! Unfortunately Ms.Christine cannot attend as it happens to be fall on the same day as her husband's birthday and their wedding anniversary. However she is sending the four of us as representatives of Du Buh Du Designs on her behalf. Actually there will be five of us in attendance if you include King Dante who will be joining with us for part of the trip and rejoining us again at the party!
We look forward to meeting all of the other exciting guests you've invited and hope to maybe visit with the other Du Buh Du girls who reside at the Valencia Estate. And don't worry, we know your house will be full of weekend guests so we've booked a few rooms at Miraval until Monday. We will taking our own form of transportation as driving would simply take too long and we'd rather avoid the airport these days. We'll be leaving Thursday afternoon and should arrive by midmorning Saturday. See you soon!

a little shameless self-promotion..
Leaving Bend ,Oregon with a nice view of Mt. Bachelor
Poor Miss Violette isn't used to flying..
Arriving in "Arizona" very early this morning..we're almost there!
P.S. Ms. Christine just had a giveaway for one of her dolls this week and even though she mentioned it would be awhile before she had another, she wanted to let everyone at the party know that she is having a small, teeny tiny give away for "Dante" (he's about 4" tall or so). They don't need to have a blog or be a participant in the Mad Hatter Party festivities. All they need to do is leave a comment, interesting cat names, etc. She will pick the winner Tuesday July 1st at noon!!
And don't forget to stop by the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" this weekend over at A Fanciful Twist for more sites that are participating!
P.S.S. These four new dolls will not be available for sale (not yet anyhow) but not to worry I will be making more of them soon!
Thanks to Mark for helping me out with the "on location" photo shoots and by making that fabulous hot air balloon ( I only helped with the decoration)! See why I married him? I can order up a plane, a train or an automobile and he'll construct one. Not that I actually have a use for any of those. But you know what I mean :)
With a busy home life these days, I am only able to create dolls (and blog!)when I get the chance. The best way to find out when I'll have more dolls available is to be added to my mailing list.To be notified of when the next
