This year, Andres wanted to be two different themes for Halloween and wound up going with an aviation theme again (his second choice was Barani). Mark, once again made his aircraft using foam and posterboard anlong with aluminum shelf liner adhesive. The control panels and decals were printed onto sticky back paper and I used the tops of plastic bead containers to cover the little dials and added sequin pins to give the illusion of tiny rivets . We added cheap LED lights (the kind that you tap to turn on) to the back of the plane and added green glo sticks to the panel so that it would  be visible at night. You can see past aviation costume ideas here along with pics of "kid vicious" and "Bob Ross" :) We had an all around great evening trick or treating~hope you did as well!

Happy Day of the Dead to those who are honoring and remembering loved ones today (it's not meant to be a sad day!). I did not have time to prepare a proper post like I did here two years ago and this post from last year. I do have two Catrina dolls I'm working on and will share later this week. In the meantime we are headed off to enjoy some Dia de los Muertos Festivities, dinner and top off election day seeing a favorite singer in concert this evening~

Astronaut Andres

Halloween this year meant that my son (a few weeks shy of four) finally had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to be . Being that he's a bit obsessed with rockets and space it was sort of a no brainer that he would be an astronaut. And leave it it to Dad to send him off trick or treating in his own Saturn V made of cardboard and foam..he's a lucky boy to have such a creative Dad don't you think?!

"We Don't Make Mistakes, We Just Have Happy Accidents"

We'll we're back from a whirlwind trip! As I mentioned we left town last Thursday and headed down to California for a quick trip. We spent the night on Nob Hill in my favorite city (San Francisco) and then headed down to our hometown of Monterey where both sets of Andres's grandparents live. Since I knew we were not going to see my parents for the holidays, I came up with the idea of showing up on their doorstep as "trick-or- treaters" for Halloween. As far back as I can remember, my mom has always enjoyed seeing all of the little kids dressed up at her door and she would compliment each child on their costume. So I knew this would be the perfect "trick" to play on my parents. (Mark's parents, who visited us the previous week, were in on the secret).

When my mother opened the door and saw Andres, she started to remark that he was dressed in a similar costume to her grandson. She jumped back completely surprised when Mark and I showed our faces (and of course I didn't have my camera)! We had a great time and Andres loved spending time with his grandparents. So much so that he was whining the other night that he wanted to go to Grandma's house :)

And what was Andres this year? Well lets see his first Halloween he was "Kid Vicious", little punk rocker..

Yep, Bob Ross!

Andres loves the man and knows many of the "Bob Ross-isms", so it just seemed natural for him to dress up like the T.V. painting guru. I hope one day Andres looks back and appreciates his parents sense of humor! I suspect that next year he'll want to pick his own costume, probably a super hero..I can't blame him :)

Next post will be my shop update announcement. It will still be next week but on a different day then previously mentioned. Also if you haven't signed up for the doll give away do so by this weekend.
